Situated in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside, Gainsborough Golf Club is the headquarters of Ping Europe and boasts a pair of 18-hole courses.

I was invited to photograph the resort’s Karsten Lakes course as part of an advertorial feature for GRN-OGRO magazine.

When I was asked to visit Gainsborough I was excited. That’s because I had been told to expect flat terrain and a course that is not exactly picturesque.

I saw it as a challenge and armed with a tripod and my ND filters I scoured the course on a buggy. I had only one evening and one morning to capture the entire course so was totally up against it.

Thankfully, I found some great angles early on and discovered a group of three or four holes that were basking in golden sunlight. The combination of dark skies with slithers of sunbeams made for some great photos and both clients were over the moon.
