I was commissioned by National Club Golfer magazine to shadow one of its owners at a custom fitting in Huddersfield. Taking photos on a driving range is a real pain; they always feature busy backgrounds and are far from easy on the eye. I therefore utilised my 50mm prime’s fast aperture (it is sharp above f/2 so I started there) to bring out the bokeh and hide it a touch.

This photograph was made into a double-page spread in the magazine and a large feature online. The magazine’s client – John Letters, one of golf’s oldest and most successful manufacturers – was so impressed they purchased the images for promotional purposes on their premises and website.
